what is Agneepath scheme ?

The union cabinet on 14 June had approved a recruitment scheme for Indian youth to serve in the Armed forces. The scheme is called AGNEEPATH and the youth selected under this scheme will be known as Agniveers. AGNEEPATH allows patriotic and motivated youth to serve in the Armed forces for a period of four years.

What is Agneepath ?

According to the government, AGNEEPATH scheme has been designed to enable a youth profile of the Armed forces. It will provide an opportunity to the youth .

the nation stands to immensly benefit by infusion of highly inspired youth with deeper understanding of self-discipline,

diligence and focus that would be adequately skilled and will be able to contribute in other sectors. The dividends of the short military service to the nation are immense .

As the armed forces, it will enhance the youthful profile of the armed forces and provide a fresh lease of josh and jazba while at the same time bring about a transformational shift towards a more tech savvy Armed forces -which is indeed the need of the hour,

The average profile of Indian Armed forces would came down by about 4-5 years by implementation of this scheme.

Who is Agniveers ?

The youth joining the armed forces under Agneepath scheme will be known as AGNIVEERS

Agniveers will be given an attractive customised monthly package along with RISK and HARDSHIP allowances as applicable in the three services.

On completion of the engagement period of four years, Agniveers will be paid one time” Seva Nidhi” Package .

The SEVA NIDHI will be exempt from Income tax. There shall be no entitlement to gratuity and pensionery benefits.

AGNIVEERS will be provided non-contributory life insurance cover of Rs 48 lakh for the duration of their engagement period in the Indian Armed forces.

Why are Indians protesting against the MODI govt’s AGNEEPATH SCHEME ?

India is witnessing many youngsters coming out on railway stations and Roads to protest against the center’s Agnipath recruitment scheme.

Incidents of violence and protests have been reported in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

The Narendra Modi government introduced the new recruitment initiative for the armed forces earlier this week .

The government said youths between the ages of 17- and- a-half and 21 years would be inducted for a four year tenure while 25% of the recruits retained for regular service. The upper age limit was raised to 23 years on Thursday .

The new scheme for the recruitment of soldiers in the ARMY , NAVY and ARMED FORCES was projected by the government as a major overhaul of the decades-old selection process to enhance the youthful profile of the three services.

Those to be recruited under the Agneepath scheme will be known as AGNIVEERS.

Objectives of Agneepath Recruitment Scheme 2022 ?

Agniveer will find work in various industries thanks to the training and experience he received in the military. As part of the agneepath program, the Indian army aims to reflect the demographics of the country’s young population.

Agneepath is a Nationwide programme in India that enlists military personnel ( soldiers, pilots, sailors) based on merit.

youth can join the regular military force through this programme. people hired under the Agneepath programme will be referred to as AGNIVEERS.
